Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to the images and information you use with Reverse Image Search. We have designed the service to collect as little as possible.

Images you upload

When you upload an image, its contents are sent to Google Cloud Vision to generate your results and are then discarded. We do not store your uploaded images on our servers, we do not use them for any purpose other than performing your search, and we do not sell them.

Because your image is sent to Google Cloud Vision for analysis, please avoid uploading anything you would not want processed by a third-party service.

Images you search by URL

If you paste an image URL instead of uploading, we do not store the image. The URL is passed to Google Cloud Vision to run your search. On our photo identifier pages, our server downloads the image from that URL so it can be analyzed, then discards it.

Photo identification tools

On our identifier pages - for example plants, birds, dog breeds, fonts, TV shows and photo locations - your image is also sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the identification, and is then discarded. Before uploading, your browser makes a compressed copy of the photo, which removes hidden data such as GPS location. On the photo location page, any location data in your file is read only inside your browser and is never uploaded. Google processes images under its API terms. Identification results are generated by AI and can be wrong, so double-check anything important.

Third-party search engines

From your results you can choose to search the same image on another engine. It opens in a new tab. If you searched by URL, we pass that image URL to the engine. If you uploaded an image, your browser sends a compressed copy of it directly to the engine you chose - it does not pass through or get stored on our servers. Nothing is sent to another engine unless you click it.

From that point your interaction is with Google, Microsoft Bing, Yandex or TinEye, each of which has its own privacy policy. We are not affiliated with these companies.

Analytics and cookies

The core tool works without requiring you to sign in. We use Simple Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count page visits. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. If advertising is added in future, this policy will be updated to describe it and any cookies it sets.
